  • Where is Shark Island Dive located?

    We’re based in Fuvahmulah, Maldives, home to year-round tiger shark encounters and rich pelagic action.

  • What’s special about diving in Fuvahmulah?

    Consistent tiger shark sightings all year, plus seasonal pelagics like thresher, hammerhead, whale shark, oceanic manta and more,,often in blue-water conditions.

  • Do you guarantee tiger shark sightings?

    Nature is never guaranteed, but Fuvahmulah is one of the world’s most reliable places to see tiger sharks, with encounters year-round.

  • What certification/experience do I need?

    We recommend Advanced Open Water (or equivalent) with recent drift experience. Newer divers can do a check dive or training before advanced sites.

  • What’s your diver-to-guide ratio?

    We keep groups small for safety and enjoyment,typically max 6 divers per guide. Tiger-shark protocols may be smaller groups.

  • How many dives per day?

    Most plans include 2–3 boat dives/day depending on conditions and itinerary. Private/club charters can be customized.

  • What are conditions like (depth, currents, visibility)?

    Expect moderate to strong currents, blue-water entries, and depths typically 10–30+ m. Visibility ranges 10–30 m depending on season and site.

  • Best time to visit?

    Year-round for tiger sharks. Other pelagics are seasonal; tell us your targets and we’ll advise the best windows.

  • What gear is available for rent?

    We have BCD, regs, wetsuits, masks/fins and require a dive computer for all divers. Please send sizes in advance to reserve.

  • Do you offer Nitrox?

    Nitrox is not available. 

  • Safety protocols for tiger shark dives

    Comprehensive briefing, fixed formation, good trim & buoyancy, no touching/feeding, no dangling gear, and strict distance management for animals and divers.

  • Do I need dive insurance?

    Highly recommended (e.g., DAN or equivalent). Some advanced dives require proof of coverage.

  • How do I get to Fuvahmulah?

    Most guests fly MLE (Velana) → FVM on a domestic flight (~1hr+). We can assist with options and timings. (Speedboat links from nearby atolls may be possible—ask us.)

  • What’s included in a dive day?

    Boat, guide, tanks & weights, drinking water, and site briefings. Add-ons: rental gear, Nitrox, private guiding, photos/video.

  • Payment methods

    We accept bank transfer, USD cash, and credit/debit cards (card payments typically incur a 4% processing fee).

  • Do you have alcoholic beverages available in Fuvahmulah?

    Alcohol is not sold or served on inhabited local islands in the Maldives, including Fuvahmulah. 

  • What activities are available in Fuvahmulah?

    Plenty! Snorkeling, fishing (reef, night, or big-game), island tours, and BBQ at Thoondu Beach. We can also arrange sunset & dolphin cruises, photo sessions, motorbike island rides, and visits to the freshwater lakes and viewpoints.
